Mythical Mývatn and the waterfall of the gods- Private Tour
Legends carved in lava and light
Imagine a day where waterfalls carry legends, lava fields twist into surreal shapes, and steam rises gently from the earth. This private journey takes you from Akureyri to Goðafoss — the "Waterfall of the Gods" — before continuing into the volcanic landscapes of Lake Mývatn. Walk among pseudo craters and eerie lava formations, feel the heat of bubbling mud pools at Hverir, and explore a region where nature and folklore intertwine. With time and interest, you can unwind in the Mývatn Nature Baths — a peaceful soak with panoramic views. Throughout the day, I’ll share the stories, history, and quiet moments that make this region so unforgettable — all at a pace that’s relaxed, personal, and designed around you.
Throughout the day, we’ll explore some of North Iceland’s most striking and storied landscapes:
- Goðafoss, the “Waterfall of the Gods”
- Skútustaðir’s gentle pseudo craters
- Dimmuborgir’s surreal lava formations
- Hverir’s steaming mud pools and fumaroles
- Panoramic views across the volcanic terrain Time and interest permitting, we can also stop for a relaxing soak at the Mývatn Nature Baths
- a quieter, scenic alternative to the Blue Lagoon. This is a private experience, and the itinerary is flexible.
If you have special interests or requests, I’m happy to adjust the day to suit your pace and preferences.
